Because Microsoft ended its life cycle and there are no more updates for vulnerabilities. I would only use an old version of Windows like that if it were on a machine that would never be on the Internet and never be interfacing with another machine. Otherwise, you are asking for trouble. I have an old laptop with W98 installed just so I can play old games.
